Meet Cam – Founder of The Treelancers Ltd

Hi, I’m Cam, the founder of The Treelancers Ltd. I have over 10 years of experience in the arboriculture industry, with a career built on hands-on experience across residential, commercial, local government, utility and high-profile sites throughout New Zealand.

My journey with trees began through an apprenticeship with Bark Ltd in Wellington. During my early years in the industry, I completed my NZQA Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in Arboriculture, along with additional training in Utility Arboriculture.

While working in the Wellington region, I had the opportunity to carry out arboricultural work at a wide range of significant and high-profile locations, including Parliament Grounds, Government House, Premier House, embassies and high commissions. My commercial experience included sites such as Hutt Hospital, Victoria University, MPI Trentham and various retirement villages, as well as street and park tree work for Upper Hutt City Council. I also gained extensive experience working across numerous residential properties.

I later returned to Palmerston North, where I worked as a Parks and Reserves Arborist for the Palmerston North City Council. In this role, I helped manage and maintain trees across more than 100 parks and reserves, developing valuable experience in public tree management, tree inspections and maintenance planning.

From there, I joined Asplundh the largest tree company in the world, undertaking powerline clearance work throughout the Manawatū, Rangitīkei and Ruapehu regions. During this time, I completed NZQA Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Utility Arboriculture and continued working on street trees for Palmerston North City Council.

After gaining experience across multiple areas of the industry, I decided it was time to build something of my own. The Treelancers Ltd was born, from a commitment to providing professional, reliable and high-quality tree services backed by genuine industry knowledge and practical experience.

In the early stages of the business, I worked independently as a contractor for a number of tree companies throughout the region. Today, I am focused on growing The Treelancers Ltd, expanding our workflow and building a trusted arboriculture company that delivers safe, efficient and professional tree care for residential, commercial and public-sector clients.
